Age
After my BBFC research I looked over the restrictions of a 15 certificate film carefully, and decided to give my film the certificate 15. This is because my film has violence, strong language and some scenes of sexual content. This age boundary is suitable because teenagers and people in their twenties enjoy watching films with violence and strong language. There are two types of categorised people that I think will come and watch this film, they are the ‘tribe wired’ and the ‘fun/atics’. As both these categories describe fun, active young people and I think 15 and above is what these types of people’s ages are.
Gender
I would like my film to attract both females and males, but logically I think my main audience will be males as this film contains violent bloody scenes, with frequent strong language, as well as it being a horror film which teen males are quite fond of. Some girls might be attracted to the interesting storyline and the fact the protagonist is a female.
Nationality
The horror movie will be filmed in various locations in the UK. This being so I think more people in the UK will be interested in this film, this will also keep costs down, and there has been a cult following recently in the British film industry. But to get a wider range of people from different backgrounds to come and watch this film I have looked into subtitles in different languages and dubbing in different languages. Also the cast are of different races which may be another appealing factor to people to come and watch the film.
Social and Economic Group
I think my film will appeal more to the working and the middle class seeing as the locations we are using to film the movie are working, middle class regions. Also the storyline says that the main character is a student, this could attract both class’ to come watch the film. The reason I think that the upper class may not come to watch this particular film maybe because there are no characters they can relate.
Fans
I would expect people that are fans of the supernatural genre and enjoy plot twisters to come and see the movie. Apart from them I would imagine the fans of horror movies would come and watch this and besides them. Furthermore there are consumers that are devoted cinema goers, who enjoy cinema entertainment to fall into this category.
Sexuality
I don’t think that sexual bias will make any difference, the horror genre appeals to everyone. There is no sexual discriminating in the film which is why I think that gay or straight if you enjoy horror film you will come and watch it.
