Narrative
The narrative is about a London detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner Dr John Watson. When they have to go after Lord Blackwood, a person who is trying to portray himself as a powerful magician, it is up to Sherlock Holmes to prove that Blackwood is nothing more than a man, who uses science and wit to commit his crimes.
The Opening
The opening of the movie starts with a horse drawn carriage going past, the setting is at night. The camera is following the carriage; the camera catches up with the carriage and the next frame take place inside. We see Watson and a police officer; they are both arming themselves with guns and making sure they are loaded.
Narrative Enigma
The narrative enigma is, will Holmes be able to prove Blackwood wrong and will they be able to save his girlfriend.

Diegetic sounds are of the carriage moving.
